History

Making a decision to retire in 1959, Carl Miller sold his scrap metal business, Miller Iron and Metal, located at 1900 N. Clifton in Chicago. He had acquired a number of properties over the years that were being handled by a professional real estate management company. Carl and his son David, who had worked for his dad at Miller Iron and Metal since 1940 decided to build an office building at 2600 W. Peterson in Chicago and take a suite in the lower level as Carl Miller and Son, Inc. The building, though sold many years ago, still stands with the name Cardamil emblazoned on the south facade. They quickly followed up with 2945 and 2545 W. Peterson Ave. similarly styled two story buildings that they managed and operated successfully for many years.

Carl passed away in 1967 but David was joined by his sons, Howard and Stanton in 1971 as they opened a full service real estate office at 3926 Touhy in Lincolnwood. They managed buildings located at 6428-32 N. Francisco, 6421-28 N. Richmond, 6720 Sheridan Rd., 416 Barry, 3334-44 W. Peterson and 4200 N. Marine Dr. in Chicago and 8040 Floral Ave. in Skokie. Carl Miller and Son Inc. also ran sales and management for Chesterfield Builders' “Towndominiums“; built on Touhy and Jarlath in the early 70’s. The company was active in the residential Lincolnwood home market as well as the family operated, Cardamil Construction, building three homes in Northbrook in 1980.

The real estate environs pushed Stanton Miller to The Chicago Board of Trade in 1980 where he traded Treasury Bond futures until he leased out his membership in 1995 to devote full time to his other business, Hi-Five Sports Camp, that had grown to include campuses in Northbrook and Chicago. He sold his interest in the sports marketing business in 2003 and is returning to his first business.... real estate management to join his son, Kyle. After attending The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Kyle decided to pursue a career in real estate and extend the family’s legacy in the industry.

Thus, Carl Miller & Son, Inc. is comprised of Four Generations in Real Estate!
